Tension Takeaway Candles
Candle Care

Here are some handy tips to get the best from your candles.

The obvious ones first:

Never leave a burning candle unattended
Always burn candles out of the reach of children and pets
Always place candles on a flat fire-retardant surface away from draughts
Do not burn candles on or near anything that can catch fire

Trim the wick to 5mm before lighting. This will help reduce soot production and ensure a clean burn.

Ever had a candle that burned all the way down the middle
and left a ring of unused wax around the container?

Follow these instructions and you can use up all the wax without wasting a drop:

When first lighting your candle, allow the melting wax to travel all the way to the edge of the container and continue to burn until the wax is approximately ΒΌ inch deep. This is roughly two hours for the 100ml candle and four hours for the 200ml candle. This action will enable your candle to use the whole of the wax every time you burn it. You only need take these steps on the first burn. Voila!

Extinguish your candle by replacing the lid. Try to resist the urge to blow the candle out as this can cause soot from the wick to fall into the melted wax causing smoking on the next burn. If soot does get on the container, simply wipe off with a damp cloth.

Before lighting your candle each time, gently pinch the wick to remove the burnt remains. Only do this when the candle is cold. This helps soot from falling into the melting wax and prevents the wick from curling over and smoking.

It is recommended that you do not burn your candle for longer than four hours at a time as the wick can curl, potentially break off, falling into the wax and smoke.

If burning a few candles together, make sure that they are at least 10cm apart as the containers need space to stay at an even temperature. Grouping them closing together can cause the tins to heat up rapidly.

By following the steps above, after completely burning your candle, you should be left with an empty container with no unused wax around the edge. Once cold, you can wash the tin out with hot soapy water and use it for whatever you like! A holder for Trinkets, paperclips, rubber bands etc
